Speaker:Podcast.
Speaker:This month, our featured story comes from Chuck, where he tells the story of Agassi and
Speaker:Roddick in an exciting 3.5 battle of 70 and overs playing against BridgeMill and their
Speaker:very distracting crowd of available old ladies.
Speaker:Have a listen and let us know what you think.
Speaker:Our first USTA 3.5 70 and Over match was against BridgeMill.
Speaker:They graciously agreed to host as our home courts were occupied by the Reinhardt University
Speaker:tennis team.
Speaker:Out of 11 players, only 6 were available, but they were well trained, well-coached, and
Speaker:ready for action.
Speaker:BridgeMill must have announced we were coming to their entire neighborhood as a bunch of
Speaker:unmarried 70 year old plus women showed up with cookies and hat tea.
Speaker:I particularly liked the one that bought a 24 pack of Modelo Especialle Lear.
Speaker:All three lines started at the same time.
Speaker:Bob Ambil played line 3.
Speaker:They gave the opposing team their 1-2 punch combining finesse with power.
Speaker:They paraded off the court in a lively fashion with an easy win of 6-2-6-1.
Speaker:Line 1 and 2 were engaged in his lug fests.
Speaker:We knew that the key to winning was powerful baseline shots combined with short ballies near
Speaker:the net.
Speaker:Or at least, that's what our pro Tom Cobb told us.
Speaker:Steve and Neil played a band-up game.
Speaker:Neil hit some powerful shots from the baseline while Steve guarded the net like a hug.
Speaker:They were overrun in the first set 6-3, but took it to a tiebreaker in the second set.
Speaker:Unfortunately, the outcome was an in their favor and they lost 7-6.
Speaker:Chuck and Tom played line 1.
Speaker:They had played together so much that everyone knew them as Agacy and Rodic.
Speaker:They didn't adapt the world to court conditions in the first set and lost 6-3.
Speaker:Tom attributed the loss to stumbling on all the contact cards they were thrown at him by
Speaker:the 70-year-old bridge meal woman.
Speaker:After Tom picked up all the cards and arranged them in alphabetical order, we played an outstanding
Speaker:second set.
Speaker:Before you knew it, we were up 3-0 and our opponents were totally mystified.
Speaker:So were we.
Speaker:Our opponents came back strong to tie the match at 5-0.
Speaker:Because when someone yelled, the beer is almost gone.
Speaker:It sent both Tom and Chuck into a panic as our thoughts were trained on how to get at least
Speaker:one bottle of beer.
Speaker:It just goes to show that tennis is 60% physical and 40% mental.
Speaker:We lost 6-3 and 7-5.
Speaker:But we did get the last bottle of beer.
Speaker:Well, there you have it.
Speaker:We want to thank reGeovinate.com for use of the studio.
