Bull Shark Sports: 2024 Winter Session Mondays: Tennis Practice & Play – Ages 10 – 14

Mondays 5:00 – 6:00 pm. January 8th – February 26th. Designed to be a 5-week session with the last week considered a Make-Up for any rained out or canceled practices. If multiple rainouts occur, additional make-up days will be added. There are no practices on January 16th or February 19th due to Martin Luther King, Jr Day and President’s Day. If a child misses a practice during the session, they are welcome to make up on a different day of their same age group. Simply notify Coach Ben when doing so. Participation priority will be given to members of Briarcliff Woods Beach Club. Focus is on improving rally and serve skills needed to effectively play on an adult size court. Modified equipment and court spacing is strategically used to develop skills. Progressive teaching methods such as differentiation allows coach to accommodate for varying skill levels. Activities are designed to help each player with their own development of tennis skills. This group maybe be sub-divided into two groups during practices to accommodate differences in levels. The less experienced players will be learning to serve consistently and improve rally skills, particularly movement patterns that allow for rallying for an extended length of time. The more experienced players that can rally at a higher level will be learning tactical play that forces errors from their opponents such as developing an offensive serve, applying pace and spin to shots, and playing the ball to all parts of the court.
